Accelerate

international growth

Aviation Industry Corporation of China selected our Pro Line Fusion® integrated avionics system for its MA-700 regional airliner, expected to enter into service in 2019. It also selected our HGS-3500 Head-up Guidance System as an airline-selectable option for the MA-700. The recently released “China HUD Application Roadmap” calls for 50 percent of in-service airline fleets to be equipped with HUDs by 2020, and on all airline aircraft offering HUD as an option by 2025.

Reinforcing and expanding our international presence is an important component of our strategy to accelerate growth. In fiscal year 2014, 43 percent of Rockwell Collins’ revenue came from international sources, including foreign military sales, and we expect that figure to reach parity with domestic revenue by 2020.

In addition to our strong and long-standing presence in developed regions such as Western Europe, Canada and Australia, we are pursuing growth opportunities in emerging countries including Brazil, China, India and the Middle East. And we continue to maximize our international business development investments through a dedicated local presence, strategic collaborations and partnerships, and working closely with customers to ensure that we meet requirements for features, costs and exportability.

More passengers, more aircraft, more opportunity

As the global middle class expands and commerce grows more interconnected, so too does the need for commercial air travel. Projections indicate that passenger loads and aircraft in service will continue upward — and in a big way.

Rockwell Collins is poised to benefit from these trends as airlines respond by expanding their fleets. Airlines around the world, including Qantas Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, Oman Air and Air Algerie selected suites of our company’s communication, navigation and surveillance avionics in fiscal year 2014. And we’ve gained success among low-cost air carriers, winning new orders from Air Asia, Indonesia’s Lion Air and Mexico’s VivaAerobus, demonstrating our ability to provide proven, advanced avionics solutions that match these customers’ unique requirements.

Lion Air's selection of our avionics for 234 Airbus A320 aircraft is one of the largest orders in
Rockwell Collins' history.

Forging strong partnerships

Collaborative and cooperative partnerships are an essential element of our international strategy, and we continued to forge new relationships in fiscal year 2014.

Our alliance with Canada’s Cascade Aerospace will provide avionics upgrades to the Mexican Air Force’s C-130K Hercules transport aircraft. In India, we earned selection by India-based Park Controls & Communications for a major assignment: to provide our 721S Fixed Site Ground radio as a part of an advanced telemetry system for the Indian Air Force.

This fiscal year, we celebrated the grand opening of Rockwell Collins CETC Avionics Company, a joint venture with the China Electronics Technology Avionics Company to develop communication and navigation solutions for the COMAC C919. We also signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Beijing Bluesky Aviation Technology to establish a joint venture in China for commercial flight simulation and training solutions.

Brazil: Celebrating 40 years

Rockwell Collins celebrated its 40th year as a member of Brazil’s aerospace and defense community in fiscal year 2014 — the same year that saw the delivery of Embraer’s Legacy 500 with our Pro Line Fusion® integrated avionics system. Similar Pro Line Fusion avionics will be aboard Embraer’s KC-390 tanker, scheduled for delivery in 2016.

In addition, we marked the anniversary with a number of strategic announcements to reinforce our commitment to the region.

  • Delivery of the HF-9087D radio — Part of our family of high-frequency (HF) airborne radios enabling long-range, high-altitude communications, the HF-9087D communications system is the first Rockwell Collins radio to be manufactured entirely at our Brazil facility.
  • Selection of Micro Inertial Sensors for UAVs — FT Sistemas selected Rockwell Collins to provide its Micro Inertial Navigation Sensor for the Horus 100, a hand-launched unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) to be deployed by the Brazilian Armed Forces. Deliveries are scheduled to take place by the end of 2014.
  • Implementation of ARINC VeriPax at GRU — We implemented the first phase of our ARINC VeriPax reconciliation system at São Paulo International Airport (GRU) in time for the start of the 2014 World Cup in June, improving the airport’s passenger flow by nearly 20 percent.
  • Brazil facility expansion — We announced plans to significantly expand our primary Brazilian facility in São José dos Campos to bring new engineering and service capabilities to our customers in the region.
