9/20/04 Data Link Solutions receives $13 million order for JTIDS Class 2 Data Links
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (May 23, 2005) – Data Link Solutions (DLS), a BAE SYSTEMS/ Rockwell Collins company, has received a $13 million contract from the U.S. Air Force Electronic Systems Center (ESC) to provide its Joint Tactical Information Distribution System (JTIDS) Class 2 Terminals for the U.S. Navy’s E-2C Hawkeye aircraft.

The DLS JTIDS Class 2 Terminal is a highly sophisticated information distribution system that provides real-time, jam-resistant secure transfer of combat information and relative navigation between widely dispersed battle elements.

Participants gain situational awareness by exchanging voice and digital data over a common communications link that is continuously and automatically updated in real time by all. Various types of JTIDS terminals are providing interoperable communications aboard aircraft, ships and fixed and mobile ground sites.

“JTIDS on the E-2C will enable seamless integration of the Cooperative Engagement Capability (CEC), the Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) and ground-based systems,” said Bruce King, vice president and general manager of Communications Systems at Rockwell Collins. “This will allow the Navy or Joint Force Commander to employ an organic, theater-wide counter-air defense for U.S. and coalition forces.”

Data Link Solutions (DLS) was established in 1996 by BAE SYSTEMS and Rockwell Collins (NYSE: COL) to pursue the next generation Link 16 applications. With a heritage of more than 20 years of Link 16 design and production experience of over 2,000 Link 16 systems, DLS today is a leading supplier of Link 16 terminals and software, as well as logistics / support services for air, land and sea-based platforms.
