In 1969, Intertrade was founded in Cedar Rapids, Iowa as Ascott Traders. Now it is a global leader in providing customers with reliable and reputable aftermarket solutions. The company, which was started by two former Collins Radio Company employees, was reincorporated one year later as Intertrade LLC.
Over the next twenty five years Intertrade operated as a small family-run parts trading business with a handful of employees. Over this period, the company developed an expertise in used aircraft equipment, specializing in Rockwell Collins avionics. In 1994, Intertrade embarked on an expansion plan and broke ground on a new 16,000-square foot facility. During this time the company grew to around 25 employees, a B737-300 was purchased for part out, and sales increased to around $20 million.
In 1999, Intertrade was acquired by Rockwell Collins and became a wholly owned subsidiary, operating with around 30 employees. With this acquisition, Intertrade could leverage its affiliation with a major original equipment manufacturer (OEM), while providing other enhanced services due to its strong customer relationships, global presence, product knowledge, and solid financial position.
Today, Intertrade with over 50 employees, provides a broad range of services including OEM parts distribution, supply programs, consignment redistribution programs, repair chain management solutions, asset leasing and exchanges. Focused on global expansion, Intertrade has established distribution centers in London and Singapore in order to satisfy 24-hour customer requirements. International sales account for about 40 percent of Intertrade's business, with over 70 percent of their business coming from ends users such as airlines spanning the globe. In addition, Intertrade is focused on strengthening their supply chain, leveraging their financial ability to purchase entire inventories or individual rotable components for Boeing, Airbus, regional, corporate and military aircraft, to include purchasing aircraft for part out.
With 40 years of experience backed by Rockwell Collins, Intertrade is uniquely positioned to provide customers with reliable and reputable aftermarket solutions for most major OEM products. Intertrade maintains one of the largest used equipment inventories in the industry, with over $60 million in avionics, airframe, and engine accessory products ready for immediate delivery. This inventory investment coupled with a dedicated team of experts allows Intertrade to meet customers' operational requirements in the most cost-effective and efficient manner possible.
