SECTION 1: EXECUTIVE COURSES

The Executive Courses are designed to meet the specific training needs of Field Grade officers, Executive Level Managers, Procurement Managers, and individuals not requiring high levels of technical or operational expertise but who require a general working knowledge of Link 16 system, technology, and employment.

1.1 Link 16 and Tactical Links Executive Overview

A high level introduction to Link 16 and other tactical data links. This course addresses the executive-level training needs of senior service members and other Non-operators who require a basic working knowledge of tactical link capabilities and limitations, but are not directly involved in day-to-day link operations and/ or Management. Specific areas covered include: Developmental History and integration of tactical links in today’s military; Link 16 basic operational theory; Link 16 capabilities and limitations; Employment concepts in multi-service and multi-national environments.

1.2 Introduction to the Theory, Functions and Employment of Link 16

This course provides a detailed introduction to the overarching theory, functions, and employment strategies of tactical links in general and Link 16 specifically. The course addresses the needs of individuals requiring a moderate to high level of understanding of the capabilities and limitations of the systems in a variety of employment environments. Specific areas of coverage include:

  • The developmental history and integration of tactical link technology into the modern military
  • Tactical link application in military and non-military environments
  • Integration and interoperability on various Land, Sea, and Air platforms and Tactical Data Links
  • Integration into the command and control structure
  • Link 16 capabilities and limitations in various tactical environments
  • Considerations for inclusion of Link 16 into operational Doctrine
  • Concept of Link Employment
  • Link 16 Management Requirements in joint, national, and international    operations
  • Network design fundamentals and considerations
  • Planning and administrative functions and requirements
  • Unit and Personnel Qualifications and Training
